DOT Reopens the road to McCarthy

We want to extend a sincere thank you and express our gratitude to the men and women of the Chitina DOT for restoring essential transportation access for the people of McCarthy. The crew worked tirelessly to ensure the road was stabilized and traffic could pass in short order. This road is a well known path to Lower Copper River subsistence and personal use fisheries as well.

The communication by DOT is commendable as well. Offering Alaskans up to date reports and an opportunity to comment is exceptional. We need more of this in our State Government.

These are the essential services we rely on in rural Alaska, and these are the hard-working Alaskan that always step up.
